Load and moments determine more than payload
List the moving mass, offset loads and external forces. Overhung tooling can create moment loads that dominate the guide selection even when the payload is modest.
Stroke, speed and acceleration belong together
A long stroke at high travel speed may favor a different drive architecture from a short, high-thrust positioning axis. Include the motion profile rather than one headline speed.
Duty cycle affects thermal and life behavior
State cycles per minute, operating hours and dwell times. Frequent reversals and sustained duty can change motor, screw, bearing and lubrication requirements.
Close the motor interface early
Specify motor type, flange, shaft, controller and feedback/brake needs. Leaving the motor until the end can create adapter, coupling and inertia problems.
