APPLICATION ENGINEERING

Linear Motion Applications

Different machines ask for different combinations of guidance, drive, stiffness, speed and environmental protection. Use the application as the starting point for an RFQ.

CNC

Machine Tools & CNC Auxiliaries

Profile rails and precision-oriented ball screws are common architectures for feed, loading and auxiliary axes. Mounting accuracy, preload, support stiffness and contamination control should be defined together.

FA

Factory Automation

Choose between compact screw-driven modules and faster belt-driven travel based on stroke, payload, acceleration, cycle time and positioning requirements.

PKG

Packaging & Converting

Linear guides, round-shaft systems and belt axes are frequently considered where repeated motion, long travel and simple maintenance are important.

ELEC

Electronics & Inspection

Miniature guides and controlled screw drives help package motion into small mechanisms. Accuracy, smoothness and cable/sensor integration need early attention.

MH

Material Handling

Long-stroke transfer axes often emphasize travel speed, payload and structural support. The guide and drive should be selected from the complete load case.

TEST

Test & Measurement Fixtures

Short-stroke positioning can use miniature guides, lead screws or ball screws depending on backlash, repeatability, force and manual/automatic drive requirements.

Belt driven module

Choosing the drive architecture

Ball screws are commonly associated with efficient, precise positioning. Lead screws suit many adjustment and moderate-duty tasks. Belt-driven modules are often attractive for longer travel and dynamic transfer. None of these choices should be made from stroke alone.
