Define which end locates the screw axially
The fixed end usually carries the primary axial locating function while the opposite end accommodates the intended support strategy. The bearing arrangement must match load, speed and stiffness.
Send the journal drawing
Journal diameters, shoulders, threads, key features and locknut details determine compatibility. A support block with a similar outside size is not enough.
Include speed and screw length
Long, fast screws introduce critical-speed and support-stiffness considerations. The support choice cannot be separated from screw diameter, unsupported length and operating speed.
Check center height and bolt pattern
Replacement support units must also match the machine mounting plane, center height and fastener pattern so the screw remains aligned to the nut and guide system.
